When I had my son, my husband and I had every intention on having him sleep in the pack-n-play bassinet before transitioning him to the crib. Circumstances changed things, and here we were 4 months later working on transitioning him from our bed to the pack-n-play. Unfortunately we hit a snag in transitioning……the pack-n-play didn’t really have a mattress per se, but a hard mat. Needless to say, little man didn’t take to that very well.
I hit Amazon looking for a mattress that would fit into the pack-n-play, and give my son the soft cushion he was so used to sleeping on. I came across the Dream On Me 3″ Portable Foam Mattress for $38.99. I read the reviews and decided to give it a go. Thanks to Prime, I had the mattress in hand 2 days later.
The mattress fit perfectly in the pack-n-play we have. I laid it on top of the pack-n-play mattress that came with the pack-n-play. There were no gaps on the sides, as many reviewers had stated.
What I Love:
~ The mattress fits the pack-n-play perfectly. I was nervous upon reading other reviews that there would be large gaps in the sides. This wasn’t the case with our pack-n-play. As long as your inner mattress is 35×25 this mattress will work for you.
~Standard pnp mattress sheets fit on the mattress. I was initially skeptical because the pnp mattress is so much thinner than this mattress is, but it fits like a glove.
~It provides so much more cushion than the pnp mattress does. Literally the “mattress” provided by Graco feels like a wood board covered with a waterproof material. It is so hard and uncomfortable.
What I Don’t Love:
~The mattress isn’t as cushioned as I thought it would be. I figured 3 inches of memory foam would be pretty soft, but it isn’t. While it’s better than the original mattress, it certainly isn’t as comfortable as a regular mattress would be.
~The mattress kind of makes a crinkling sound when our little man moves. It isn’t all that noticeable, but I freeze every time I hear it thinking the sound will wake him up.
